Chuck's Grub Fish & Chips Chippy Shops
The story of Chuck’s Grub Fish & Chips is every budding entrepreneur’s dream. Owner Enrique Valles lived
in London for seven years and came home to Manila to head a seafood
distribution business. Together with his wife Isha Andaya-Valles, the
two had an idea to open a proper fish and chips shop in the Philippines.
Like most enterprising beginners, they rented a stall in Mercato
Centrale to test the waters. The night market favorite has expanded into
six branches around Metro Manila—three of which are full-scale shops
called “chippy shops,” where customers can sit down and dine in, instead
of the usual takeaway style typical of fish and chips joints in London.

Tutto Domani - A Good Place To Hang Out
Tutto Domani: More than a Remedy for Boredom
by Cityzen | M.C. JoseTutto Domani (which translates to “Everything Tomorrow”) is one of Makati’s hidden wonders. Located right across Greenbelt 3 and tucked into a corner of New World Hotel, it is a sure sight for the wandering eye in search for a good place to hang out. I myself would have never noticed Domani had my friends not invited me to visit it. I ended up so enamoured with the café and its food that I dropped by a second time to conduct the actual feature.

Modern Shanghai Restaurant - A Modern Twist on Shanghainese Cuisine
Modern Shanghai
at SM Mall of Asia is one of the newest offerings of the Bistro Group
restaurant, and this is also the company's first venture into Chinese
food. Just like Japanese, Italian, and our very own Filipino cuisine,
Chinese fare in our country never fails to satiate the hunger of many.
Chinese restaurants are everywhere, and anywhere -- from hole in the
wall, mom and pop places that serve Tsinoy style food, little nooks and
stores where you can loudly slurp your noodle soup, to hotel-run,
elegant fine dining destinations where you delicately clink on your
china and chopsticks.

NamNam Restaurant at the Greenbelt 2, Makati City
There’s
nothing more comforting than eating food that is familiar to you,
something that you’ve loved since childhood. As a Filipino born and
raised in this country, I am extremely proud of our local cuisine. From
our leche flan up to our famous lechon, it’s all good
and yummy. It’s no wonder that we have a lot of Filipino themed
restaurants catering to our cravings. One of the newest restaurants to
fill this need is Namnam: Comfort Filipino at Greenbelt 2. It’s located right below BurgerBar, another recently opened restaurant. Both restaurants are owned and operated by the Moment Group, which also owns Cue’ Modern Barbeque in Taguig. Namnam is the Moment Group’s third restaurant.
I arrived at Namnam around 4pm with a grumbling tummy, ready to take some great shots with my camera. From what I’ve learned doing these articles, it’s always a good thing to arrive hungry and ready to eat.

Boon Tong Kee in Manila - A Taste of Singapore
Boon Tong Kee: A Taste of Singapore
by Cityzen | Crystal Joy RebucasBringing in a known brand from abroad is always tricky, and it requires more work for a first overseas outlet. Boon Tong Kee started as a small stall in Chinatown, Singapore. Mr. Thian Boon Hua’s small business became popular because of his silky white sauce rice chicken and emphasis on quality service. Taking advantage of the consistent positive feedback, he then rallied members of his family to officially open the first branch at Balestier Road. The latest count is now up to seven domestic outlets, thanks to local and foreign fans.

Filipino and Mexican Cuisines at Silantro
Silantro's
advertised fusion of Mexican and Filipino cuisines would normally have
me running towards the opposite direction. It's not that I have any
special aversion to fusion. It's just that I'm not interested in having
longganisa in my tacos nor am I psyched at the thought of having tapa in
my burrito.
But it's a good thing I did not judge Silantro by its name. Because
this supposedly “fusion” kitchen doesn't have the Mexipino abomination
dishes I imagined. Instead, this humble newcomer at the far end of East
Capitol Drive surprisingly assembles nachos, tacos, and burritos better
than supposedly “authentic” ones.
