Naci Comfort Food: Sharing Christmas Joy

As they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That old adage still holds true when it comes to Naci Comfort Food.  In true Christmas spirit and joy they have come up with their own rendition of the popular breakfast buffet.  And just in time for the Christmas season, as old and young alike will need a place to eat breakfast, especially after Simbang Gabi. Naci's Big Breakfast Buffet is available daily from 8:00am to 10:30am, including weekends and holidays.The breakfast buffet is P295/head and comes with free and gloriously unlimited coffee.  Of course, the food is also unlimited and comes in a variety of breakfast favorites.

In true breakfast mode I came early to the restaurant, so early in fact that I was one of the first visitors for the day.  I settled down and took in the view.  Naci has abundant colorful chairs and a very colorful ceiling that adds to the comforting ambiance of the interior.  The BGC branch of Naci Comfort Food is the second one, and it opened April of this year.

The Big Buffet Breakfast consists of Filipino favorites and Western favorites.  You have the options of the following:

Assorted Cold Cuts
Mini Pancakes
Fresh and Seasonal Fruits
Cereal & Milk
Freshly Baked basket of bread
Oatmeal Champorado with tuyo flakes
Homemade pork tapa
Crispy bacon
Glazed and tender chicken tocino
Fried Rice
Scrambled eggs

…and even more, if you can still eat after piling all of that on your plate!

You don’t have to be Santa Claus to enjoy a big breakfast such as this.  Although Santa would probably have to loosen his belt a few notches, as this is far more filling than those cookies and glass of milk that is left for him near the chimney!   Since this is a breakfast buffet, you can take your sweet time while enjoying the ambiance and free flowing coffee. I personally enjoyed the combination of the tocino, pork tapa, and fried rice.

I would also suggest taking a stab at the Oatmeal champorado with tuyo flakes.  Not only is it very Filipino, it is also very comforting; it reminds me of childhood and Christmas mornings. The combination of the light, sweet champorado and salty tuyo flakes is a delicious battle that is fought out in your mouth. It’s just one of those things that makes you remember how it was like having breakfast at Lola’s house during the holiday season.

Beyond the new buffet breakfast offering, Naci also has some new surprises for the adults and kiddies alike.  To complement its already good menu, Naci is now offering more to its guests in terms of an expanded menu.  I don’t know what it is about the Christmas season, but the kid in me was shouting “Try the new kids meal!” And obliging, we tried the new Spaghetti with Meatballs (P340).  True to its kids section designation, the spaghetti aims to please the palates of the young.  But the serving size is huge and can also be enjoyed by the young at heart.

Another new addition to the menu is the Mongolian Fukai Rice Bowl (P380) a Naci specialty dish. This dish, a bit more adult oriented, is a mixture of Asian flavors.  It’s a bit spicy but not too hot that it would detract from the overall taste of the dish.

And lastly, the time for dessert has come.  And ironically enough, it’s a cookie-- Santa would be proud. The Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie (P320) comes served in a large deep bowl with a topping of ice cream and caramel.  It’s best to eat the cookie warm while it’s fresh out of the oven, with the ice cream melting. Suffice it to say that it is a sweet treat that any dessert lover would, well…love.

With all these delicious things put together, Santa would have a hard time not stopping by Naci Comfort Food to leave a few presents.
