Now Open: TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie in Mega Fashion Hall
Ippudo's new next door neighbor is now serving Hong Kong comfort food but with a modern 'Chinoise' appeal.
TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie
opened its doors to the public last weekend. Hailing from Vancouver,
TuanTuan is spearheaded by the Lugang group of companies, in partnership
with the Vancouver group behind Mui Garden and Deer Garden, with Chef
Gordon Mui at its helm. With TuanTuan, they are set to give a unique
experience by offering comfort food of Hong Kong in a more Parisian
setting.
TuanTuan's Signature Snow Buns have been quickly the most popular item, crisp on outside then warm and soft on the inside with a sweet or savory filling. The Crispy Barbecued Pork Snow Buns (P128 for 3 pieces) is paired best with authentic Hong Kong Style Coffee. TuanTuan is proud to be using quality ingredients for their coffee, which includes the Black & White Milk, a brand popularly used by tea masters in Hong Kong. For a snack or as dessert, try the Crispy Pineapple Snow Buns (P128 for 3 pieces).
Other recommended dishes are the Deer Garden Halibut Fish Soup, Mui Garden Curry (using a decades-old recipe), Honey Garlic Spareribs, and hearty Congee and Porridge bowls, that are served with a siding of fried crullers.
And as it is a brasserie, diners can enjoy familiar Chinese flavors within a casual European ambiance. The interior of TuanTuan is colorful without being Oriental nor tacky red-and-gold, ridding itself of typical feng shui accents, dragon motifs or lanterns, and big round tables. Instead, there are sparkly chandeliers, large mirrors, mismatched chairs, and a wall full of different frames to keep your eyes busy and entertained while waiting for your order to arrive.
TuanTuan Chinese Brasserie is located beside Ippudo at the 3rd floor of Mega Fashion Hall, SM Megamall. Call (02) 570 9011, like their Facebook page (/tuantuanmanila), follow on Instagram and Twitter (@tuantuanmanila).
