1st Manila Food and Wine Festival

The country’s top hotels and favorite restaurants are declaring Feb. 22 to 25 as feast days for everyone, as they join the much-awaited ‘Restaurant Wars’ -- one of the highlights of the 1st Manila Food and Wine Festival (MFWF).

Organized by the Culinary Education Foundation (CEF) and in partnership with the Department of Tourism, the Restaurant Wars will be participated by more than 70 restaurants and 7 hotels who will be offering special MFWF deals that mean big discounts for their customer’s dining pleasure. These deals can be availed through purchase of exclusive MFWF tickets at the event website, www.mfwf.ph.

MFWF is set to celebrate Filipino food, Filipino chefs, and Filipino hospitality from Feb. 22-24 with the theme, 'Cooking Revolution 2013'. The activity will showcase to the world the wonders of our own cuisine in a celebration filled with activities, promos, fun and of course, food.

It will have three major activities: The Food Truck Cook-off, the Restaurant Wars, and the elegant gala dinner presented by the Asian Food Channel. Proceeds of the MFWF and the AFC Gala Dinner will be used as seed money to change the lives of 500 deserving Filipino youths who will be given a scholarship under the Culinary Education Foundation.

A variety of dishes

For the Restaurant Wars, participating groups will offer specially designed set meals at enticing discounted prices for lunch and dinner -? yet still showcasing the best of what a Filipino chef can do.

Fine dining outlets within the metropolis will open their doors during the MFWF and offer their set signature specialty menus at a discounted rate of P999 (GOURMET DEALS). Complete meals, including soup, entrée, and dessert or more depending on package, will be served with a glass of red or white wine.

With MFWF tickets, "BUFFET STEALS" is a deal worth grabbing for since buffets at hotels and restaurants will be priced at almost half the regular price.

On the other hand, "NINOY MEALS" are a scene-stealer. For just a P500 bill, get a full meal that you can enjoy with friends and family. There will also be merienda meals priced at P99 (SNACK ATTACK) to cater to the Filipino’s penchant for the light snacks.

Some of the participating restaurants include The Cravings Group such as Cravings, Casa Roces, Lombardi’s, C2, CCA Market Cafe, and The Coffee Beanery. Also part of Restaurant Wars is the Sumo Sam chain, the Florabel restaurants like Florabel, Felix, Crisostomo, and Elias. The Bistro Group will also be participating with their brands like Italianni's, Fish & Co., Friday’s, Flapjacks, Krazy Garlic, Bulgogi Brothers, Ma Maison, Modern Shanghai, the Stockmarket Cafe, Village Tavern and Watami.

The New Orleans restaurants will have three of their branches offering the meals, while Alba’s will also be adding four from their end.

Other restaurants include Zuppa Cafe, Sentro, Cookbook Kitchen, Marcianos, Mr. Kurosawa, John & Yoko, Villa Cafe, Achiote, and Gambino.

Hotels, on the other hand, will be offering buffet meals at almost half the price. Participants include: Spiral of Sofitel, Cafe Ilang-Ilang of Manila Hotel, Corniche Restaurant of Diamond Hotel, as well as the restaurants in Bayleaf, Luxent, Acacia and Traders Hotel.
