Tampopo in Greenhills - The First 2 in 1 Ramen and Tonkatsu Specialty Restaurant in the Philippines

How to Eat Ramen Like a Pro According to Tampopo

by

Originally from Singapore, Tampopo in Greenhills is the first 2-in-1 ramen and tonkatsu specialty restaurant in the Philippines. The brand was started by Takaaki Takagi, who also founded Tonkichi, one of Hong Kong and Singapore’s best Tonkatsu restaurants. He decided to name the ramen and tonkatsu restaurant Tampopo (literally: dandelion) after the classic Japanese comedy film that centers on a quest for the perfect ramen recipe.

Gino's Brick Oven Pizza: Now Open in Salcedo Village, Makati

Gino's Brick Oven Pizza has built a cult following through time, with pizza lovers claiming it's the best and the freshest in the metro. Some South-based customers even brave the Katipunan traffic just to have a piece of that pie--a slice of fresh, crisp, chewy and clean.

Now, they no longer have to do that, because Gino's opened its second branch right within Makati Central Business District.

A full line of appetizers, pizzas, and pastas is available to Makati patrons. For appetizers, sampling their homemade cheese is a must! Get Gino's Classic Burrata served with bread and olive oil for P275

Seafood Shack: Now Boiling in Quezon City

Seafood Shack: Now Boiling in Quezon City

by

In some parts of the U.S, it’s not uncommon for families to gather together during warm-weather months and have what is known as a seafood boil. Shrimp, crabs, mussels and all sorts of delicious sea creatures are tossed in a pot and boiled to sweet, juicy perfection. The seafood is either served in a plastic bag or spread on newspapers where they are feasted upon by bare hands and satisfied smiles. This is not an entirely novel idea here in the Philippines. There are establishments that serve seafood in the exact same manner but there aren’t a lot of them. Seafood lovers like myself will be pleased to know that another establishment has been added to this short list.

Milky Moustache - For sweet and creamy concoctions down south

Creamy Concoctions at Milky Moustache

by
Opened just last November, Milky Moustache was born in the kitchen of the owners’ home. “Last summer, my husband craved for a milkshake so I bought a blender and mixed together some things. He teased me at first then later encouraged me to open a shop,” says Vanessa Dionio, the 28 year-old owner and CPA who never thought she would seriously venture into the food business. Milky Moustache’s home is along Russia Street in Better Living Subdivision in Parañaque.

Lemoni Cafe & Restaurant in Boracay

Summer Forever at Lemoni Cafe & Restaurant Boracay

by

Each time I visit Boracay, a trip to this D'mall establishment is always cheery and summery, just like its zesty name. Lemoni Café and Restaurant (or simply 'Lemon' for short) celebrated its 8th year anniversary last September 2013, and still remains as a must-visit restaurant when you find yourself in this popular Philippine beach.

Mrs. Graham’s Macaron Café: Where the French Confectionery Gets an Eccentric Makeover

by

Anna Graham taught herself how to make macarons. With the internet’s endless possibilities at her disposal, she was soon able to perfect the delicate treats. After that, friends started ordering macarons for special occasions. An online business soon followed and, a wrong turn at the right street later, Mrs. Graham’s Macaron Café came to fruition.

Sarsa Kitchen + Bar at The Forum BGC

Sarsa Kitchen + Bar: Filipino Comfort Food at The Forum BGC

by

Chef JP Anglo has hit it out of the park so to say.  His newest restaurant at BGC the Forum in Taguig showcases a unique angle on Ilonggo cuisine that makes you feel like you’re in the province yourself.  Sarsa Kitchen + Bar shows off Chef JP’s culinary talent and the love he has for his province and its food.  His name may sound familiar as he is one of the judges on Junior Master Chef Philippines.  If that itself doesn’t speak for his talent, then let his food do the talking for him.

Sarsa Kitchen + Bar is conveniently located at the Forum in Taguig City right at 7th street.  It’s near the NBC Tent at the Fort.  You just have to walk across the street from there and you’re ready to enjoy some great Ilonggo cuisine.  The restaurant itself has a nice comfortable interior with lots of space for your dining needs.  Most of the furniture is made out of wood and gives you that provincial yet modern city feel that blends in nicely with the wicker lampshades.  Suffice it to say, it’s a nice place to dine at and once we got seated we were ready to enjoy the food.

The Quirky Bacon Restaurant in San Juan City

The Quirky Bacon: Creative and Local with a Twist

by

Curiosity Got the Chef’s Sharwin Tee has quite the imagination. One could not imagine how excited I was to walk into a restaurant so easily identifiable thanks to its bright purple pig street sign. Another contributing factor to my mounting intrigue was the mere mention of the name itself; anything with the word ‘bacon’ in it is music to my ears. Coupled with one of my favourite adjectives, this easily qualifies as one of the mouth-watering, curiosity-inducing restaurant names I have ever chanced upon.

Detalle Bar + Kitchen in Ortigas

Detalle Bar + Kitchen: The New Dine and Drink Oasis in Ortigas

by

The concept of Detalle (meaning ‘detail’ in Spanish) was born nearly a year ago as a brainchild to sisters Bernice and Denise Lim. “My sister and I have always wanted to put up our own establishment,” shares Bernice. “Discussions were really informal. They would take place over dinner with family and even through WhatsApp. In fact, this very place, which used to house Taverna, was where we had our first proper discussion. When we found out that it closed down, we became really intent on getting this spot because it has a very casual tambayan vibe.”

Harina Artisan Bakery Cafe in Katipunan Ave., White Plains QC

Harina Artisan Bakery Café: A Fitting Name for a Place That Does Wonders with Flour

by

The first thing you’ll notice as you step through the bright red doors of Harina Artisan Bakery Café is the impressive display of baked goods. It is, after all, what they’re known for. Monsee’s opened along White Plains in the latter part of 2010 and has established itself as a purveyor of top quality bread products. Their breadsticks and Spanish bread are just two of the items that put them on the map.
