Manila's restaurant scene last year was nothing short of exciting, starring local concepts, international brands, new commercial spaces and outlet expansions. Judging how action-packed the food and dining scene was in 2014, we look forward to an even extra-loaded 2015 with all the confirmed (and rumored) restaurant openings to appease our never-ending cravings of good eats.


They came, we saw, and our bellies conquered. In this edition of The Click List, we list the most-read restaurant article we published for every month of 2014. Which one is your favorite?



January:
The Breakfast Table: A Happy Place Where it’s All Breakfast All the Time
From the makers of The Breakfast Store come their first sit-down restaurant celebrating the most important meal of the day. Located at the foodie haven Maginhawa Street, this restaurants charms its diners with pretty interiors conducive to good conversations, and warm smiles which is what breakfast is usually all about.

8 Things to Know About New Katsu Restaurant ‘Kimukatsu’
Japan’s famous mille feuille-style katsu restaurant opened at the 5th floor of East Wing, Shangri-la Plaza Mall, and opened its second branch at Century City Mall, Makati. Because of this mille feuille-style of preparation, the cutlet--boasting of 25 layers of thinly-sliced pork--surrenders upon careful bite and melts in your mouth in no time.

‘Vikings Luxury Buffet’ Brandishes New Look, to Open 3 More Branches
Vikings first opened in 2011, and we went ahead and featured the then brand-new expansive restaurant located nearby SM Mall of Asia. Three years and five branches later, Vikings is stronger than ever, with its SM Megamall outlet featuring a hip and contemporary feel to match the new Mega Fashion Hall, and as always, a vast selection of dishes (over 200 of them) on the buffet spread.

Latest Scoop: Baskin-Robbins, World’s Largest Chain of Ice Cream Shops, to open in BGC this July
Baskin-Robbins returned to our shores and was slated to open its first Philippine store at BGC last July, but we were so excited as all you ice cream lovers were and announced it a month ahead. September:
Now Open: Barkin' Blends Dog Cafe in Quezon City
Manila's first dog cafe opened its doors in Loyola Heights last September 6, 2014. This new breed of cafe allows animal lovers to enjoy a cup of coffee in the company of cute puppies--and why not? Puppies make the world (and our hearts) a better place. Visitors are allowed to interact with the cafe's own dog residents in the Dog Zone, and they can also enjoy cake slices and coffee blends in the Humans Only Zone.

October:
Now Open: NiU by Vikings at SM Aura Premier
Toward the festive 'ber' months, buffet favorite Vikings unleashed its upscale buffet concept at SM Aura, Taguig, promising fans of eat-all-you-can concepts an evolved dining experience. This time around, NiU buffet guests will be pampered by an extra impressive food and drink lineup, served in an elegant and luxurious setting.

November:
Now Open in Century City Mall: Hole in the Wall, a Gathering of Fun Food Concepts
From sweet treats like Japanese cheese cake, eclairs, gourmet cookies, to savory provisions of Chinese and Vietnamese food, artisanal bacon, sandwiches, and fried chicken, foodies are in for an ultimate foodtrip at Century City Mall's upscale version of a hip and happening food court. It's your go-to food hub at the mall when you're in the company of hungry friends and family that have picky or particular cravings, as the food choices here are plenty and cuts across different cuisines. Three more food concepts will be rolling out soon, so there are more reasons for a revisit.

December:
Something for Your Sweet Tooth: Farmacy Ice Cream and Soda Fountain, Now Open in BGC
We end this list on a sweet note: Farmacy Ice Cream and Soda Fountain, Wildflour Bakery + Cafe's BGC neighbor and sister restaurant, opened last month.
