Now Grilling in Makati: Tambai Yakitori Snackhouse
Looking for a new spot to chill at in Makati with friends, but a place that won't also leave you broke? Hang out at this new late night street-side joint in Makati to snack on affordable savory grilled treats on sticks and other tasty eats.
From El Chupacabra to Tacos Chingones, 'street cuisine' is coloring the smaller streets of Makati delicious. Now, another no-frills eatery has opened at Barangay Poblacion, near Handlebar. Tambai Yakitori Snackhouse is the new kid on the block that started grilling just before Christmas last year.
Currently on their soft opening stage, this al fresco spot is serving yakitori (Japanese style of chicken in skewers, but now the term encompasses all types of skewered food). Tambai has different kinds of protein grilled on a stick, and ordering here won't empty your wallet. Yakitori Sticks are all priced below P50, so take your pick (or get 'em all if your barkada is tagging along--or if you're very hungry) among US Pork (P40), US Chicken Leg (P40), Chicken Liver (P30), Chicken Gizzard (P30), Beef Isaw (P35), and Quail Egg & Bacon (P35). Requisite veggies come in the form of Roast Garlic Basil (P15), Cherry Tomato (P20), and Onion Leeks served on sticks.
Tambai offers bigger servings of their skewered treats, cheekily named 'Laki-tori,' so you can bite into bigger portions of US Pork (120), US Chicken Leg (P120), US Beef Isaw (P120), and US Beef Rib Finger (P180).
Aside from their selection of yakitori, hungry folk can order starchy items like Onigiri (P30) and Kimchi Fried Rice (P40) as carb chasers; appetizers such as Furikake French Fries (P75) and Tofuyaki (P55) are also available, as well as Soft Shell Crab Salad. Soon, they will roll out yakitori sticks on cold soba salad and Japanese coleslaw, and even more skewered items like seafood.
To make your 'tambay sessions' linger longer till the wee hours of the night, they offer assorted beer and whiskey for evenings that require one for the road or several rounds of kampai.
